Into the Wild – Cover Design
This was a self-initiated project to redesign the dust jacket cover of the famous novel "Into the Wild" by Jon Krakauer. My design through imagery, colour, and type is meant to portray the cold, stark, looming isolation of the character's self-exiled physical and mental landscape. The visual elements in this design include the topographic map of Alaska (the location highlighted in the story), a mountain (the environmental representation of the protagonists physical journey), as well as a figure (representing the character). The contrast in size, weight and form of typography and spacial relationship in relation to all the visual imagery helps create a thoughtful dynamic and visual narrative to support the story.
