International Women's Day 2019 Summit Series
In celebration of International Women’s Day, the Women Techmakers team and Talent and Outreach Programs partnered to host the sixth annual Women Techmakers International Women’s Day summit series. In all, the series featured six leadership roundtables, 19 summits, and 305 meetups across 87 countries in March and April. All of the events served to acknowledge and celebrate women in the tech industry, and created a space for attendees to learn new skills, hear from industry leaders, and build community.
As lead designer, I was responsible for the theme design & development of all creative digital and print assets for the 2019 International Women’s Day summit series supporting a team of 60+ event coordinators, program specialists, community organizers, as well as social media outreach and internal Google promotion. I reported directly to the lead IWD summit series project manager sitting on Google’s Talent Programs & Events team as well as two Women Techmakers program leads.
Management Leadership for Tomorrow 15th Anniversary Celebration
Since 2007, Talent & Outreach Programs (TOPs) has partnered with Management Leadership for Tomorrow (MLT) , a nonprofit organization launched in 2002 that is transforming the career and life trajectories of a new generation of diverse leaders while expanding talent pipelines at more than 100 leading businesses, social-sector organizations, and universities. The Google-MLT partnership centers on opportunities to connect with students and industry professionals who have been historically underrepresented in the tech industry and are competitive leads for intern and full time hiring at Google.
In June 2019, Google was a premiere sponsor of the MLT 15th Anniversary Celebration in New York City, which included more than 1,000 attendees over 4 conferences and Google-hosted events. Our presence was designed to showcase Google’s commitment to diversity & inclusion, build relationships with this community of great talent for the long-term, and celebrate our partnership with the MLT organization.
For this event series I was asked as creative specialist to create an event theme design and set of corresponding digital and print assets capturing the concept of “Path to Google” while also highlighting community, support, diversity, and inclusive values. This design was to also maintain Google’s simple, build from white, flat illustrative design approach.
Google 2019 I/O Extended Summit Series
Google I/O Extended is an annual program that aims to bring the magic of I/O to developer communities outside of the Bay Area. In 2019, Talent & Outreach Programs hosted 8 summits in Google offices across North America targeting technical talent. The summits featured a live stream of the I/O keynote, local tech talks, workshops, demos, and celebratory receptions. We also partnered with Developer Relations to support community-led events globally.
As lead designer, I was responsible for the design & development of all creative digital and print assets for the 2019 I/O Extended summit series, which included conferences, workshops, and socials based around the marquis Google I/O Conference. Referencing the marquis Google I/O Conference brand design and guidelines I constructed all new assets for the I/O Extended summit series. I reported directly to the lead I/Oe summit series project manager sitting on Google’s Talent Programs & Events team, assisted 33+ coordinators and specialists with specific design requests that in turn supported 20+ internal partners.
